Coach Mel's weekly wrap up & meet results

Happy Sunday Swim Families!

I hope everyone is enjoying a restful Sunday and 4th of July weekend. Before I go over meet results I want to give a reminder of our practice schedule this week!

Monday July 4th -MORNING PRACTICE ONLY 7-8am, 8-9am

Tuesday July 5th- EVENING PRACTICE ONLY 6-7pm, 7-8pm

Another very humid Saturday home meet in the books, and holding on to our undefeated title. Great Job Torpedoes!

Indian Head: 303

Prince Georges Council: 215

We had some spectacular swims this weekend, so many best times and stroke progress with swimmers trying some new events! A few meet highlights Tobi Martinez was an awesome team player and stepped in to fill a last minute relay slot helping secure our team points. 10-year-old Cade Sprague who was participating in his first meet pulled out some amazing swims and took first in both freestyle and backstroke! Naomi Dugan who unfortunately was out due to injury had some spectacular swims, made up almost an entire pool length lead in the free relay, and quite literally struck fear in the opponent. Eliakim cut 6 seconds off his freestyle and 13 seconds on his backstroke time plus had an amazing positive attitude all day! Uriah Seger cut 14 seconds off his freestyle and 7 seconds off his back times. Alayna Madden cut 5 seconds on her freestyle time, Sebastian Webb cut a whopping 33 seconds off his freestyle! Robert Wilson cut 4 seconds off his freestyle and 6 seconds off his backstroke. Victoria and William Shepherd competed in their first meet and did an amazing job!
Our hard work is paying off and I am seeing so much improvement!
There were so many other great races and memorable moments this weekend!

This week's “Swimmers of the Meet” go to Brant Treadway, Laila Walker, and Hunter Keeler– they are all so helpful and encouraging to their teammates, on a daily basis they work hard without complaint, have a positive attitude, and regularly ask how they can help or assist! Thank you for all your hard work!

Great Job Torpedoes!
I am so proud of this amazing team and all the hard work the swimmers, parents, board members, and coaching staff put in every single day! So much goes on behind the scenes, countless hours are dedicated to making our team and meets so successful. Thank you for making this summer so great!

Attached is the PDF of results.

Ribbons will be available at practices this week – we did run out of some ribbons so please be patient as we distribute what we have and await a restock.

SUNDAY SWIM CLINICS ARE STARTING TODAY! Please check swimtopia for more details/information.

On a personal note, that you for all the love and kind words on my recent engagement! I am one lucky coach to be able to share such exciting moments in my life with this swim family!
