IH @ SVA 22 June 2024
Hello Torpedo Families,
IHST will be swimming against Smallwood Village Aquatic (SVA) on Saturday.
Date: June 22, 2024.
Location: 1019 Stone Ave, Waldorf, MD 20602
The pool is not visible from Stone Ave; they are nestled in a wooded area behind houses in the neighborhood. There is a sign that points you in the right direction off of Stone.
Important Times:
0730: Arrive
0740-0800: Warm-Ups – SVA
0800 -0820 Warm-Ups – IHST
0750:Team Representative and Coaches meeting (baby pool)
0810: Officials Brief (baby pool entrance)
0815: Timers' Meetings (in the corner behind the starting area)
0827: Anthem
0830: Meet Start
1230: Meet Concludes
Today’s Action Items:
1. Declare whether your swimmer(s) will be participating in Saturday’s meet.
2. Pick which volunteer job(s) your family member(s) will fill at the meet.
The swimmer attendance sign-up will close at noon on Wednesday. Coach Mel must submit the meet entries on Thursday. She is unable to add swimmers once the entries are submitted, so it is imperative that you sign up in a timely manner.
Swimmer sign-ups are now open for every meet throughout the season. If you wish, you can mark your swimmer(s) as Attending or Not Attending in advance.
Since the Volunteer Jobs button is right below the Swimmer Attendance button, it would be terrific if you could do all of your SwimTopia sign-ups at the same time.
Know Before You Go:
Arrive on time to get set up and for a smooth-running meet!
Parking: parking is available anywhere in the complex including the treed area that surrounds the perimeter fence.
IHST swimmers will assemble in the visitors’ spectator area; you are welcome to bring tents and it is recommended for families to bring their own chairs.
Swimmers are expected to remain in our team area for the duration of the meet.
Concessions will include a breakfast stand, snack items, and their specialty, walking tacos, later in the morning.
SVA has a strict food policy: no consumption of food on the pool deck.
Swimmers: upon arrival, check in with Coach to get your race assignments.
Volunteers: check in with Leigh Sylvain/Abby Tasic, Meet Manager, about your meet job.
There will be a Jr Marlin (guppies) swim event during the break. SVA invites our youngest swimmers to participate, if they would like. If you have little swimmers who are not yet on the team who would like to swim one length of the pool, bring a suit for them! They will be accompanied by a teenage swimmer.
- Families are expected to stay until the end of the meet (unless you have coordinated with the Coach) as the Coach doesn’t decide who will swim the final relays until the end of the meet.
- IHST swim caps will be available for last-minute purchase at the meet from Trish Dugan.
Additional Notes:
Kim Isreal, our Gear Manager, will be at both morning and both evening practices tomorrow evening so you can pick up your team shirts from her.
Two team members left their shirts at Lackey after Saturday’s meet. One was a YL; the other had the tag torn out. Retrieve them from the table by the stairs.
The pool will be closed on Wednesday June 19th, for Juneteenth, therefore no swimming practice will be held for the morning or evening session.
Reminder: the Lackey HS baby pool is closed during practice since it's not open to the public during the swim team hours.
Swim-a-Thon: You can continue to collect donations and your swimmer(s) can continue to get their laps in until Saturday, June 22nd. Don’t let the fact that the “official” swim-a-thon day was Saturday stop you from collecting additional donations over the final 5 days!
Let us know if you have any questions about Saturday’s meet.
Go Torpedoes!
