Hello Torpedo Families,
IHST will be hosting the Prince George’s Parks and Recreation (PPR) on Saturday.
Date: June 29, 2024.
Location: Lackey HS Pool.
Important Times:
0700: Arrive
0730 - 0750: Warm-Ups - IHST
0800 - 0820: Warm-Ups - PPR
0800 - Officials'/Timers' Meetings
0825: Anthem
0830: Meet Start
1200: Meet Concludes
Today’s Action Items:
Do these 3 things in SwimTopia by noon Wednesday, please.
1. Declare whether your swimmer(s) will be participating in Saturday’s meet.
2. Pick which volunteer job(s) your family member(s) will fill at the meet.
3. Indicate what item(s) you would like to donate to concessions, if any.
The swimmer attendance sign-up will close at noon on Wednesday. Coach Mel must submit the meet entries on Thursday. She is unable to add swimmers once the entries are submitted, so it is imperative that you sign up in a timely manner.
This is going to be one of our toughest meet of the season, so please sign up as soon as possible! We’ll need all hands on deck!
Swimmer sign-ups are now open for every meet throughout the season. If you wish, you can mark your swimmer(s) as Attending or Not Attending in advance.
Since the Volunteer Jobs/Concessions Donation button is right below the Swimmer Attendance button, it would be terrific if you could do all of your SwimTopia sign-ups at the same time.
Know Before You Go:
Arrive on time: we want to host an outstanding, on-time, andsmooth-running meet!
Spectators will all sit in the mezzanine; wet swimmers are not permitted there.
PPR swimmers will assemble on the right/front/parking lot-side bleachers.
IHST swimmers will assemble on the left/back/patio-side bleachers.
Swimmers are expected to remain on the bleachers for the duration of the meet.
If you wish to set up a canopy and chairs on the back patio, you may.
IH will offer concessions for purchase. We now accept cards!
Swimmers: upon arrival, check in with Coach to get your race assignments.
Volunteers: check in with Leigh Sylvain, Meet Manager, about your meet job.
Timers: check in with Pui Nguyen, Head Timer, to officially sign in. First half timers: sign in on the official meet sign in. Second half timers, please do not. Everyone, please time the half you are signed up for.
We will conduct a Guppy Race during the break. If you have little swimmers who are not yet onthe team, who would like to swim one length of the pool, bring a suit for them!
We will also be awarding Surge for Success swim-a-thon prizes!
Families are expected to stay until the end of the meet (unless you have coordinated with the Coach) as the Coach doesn’t decide who will swim the final relays until the end of the meet.
Additional Notes:
Concessions donations are optional, but we are grateful for any you are able to make. Anything you are able to donate means more funds for the Torpedoes!
All swimmers must have an IHST cap for meets. You may order these on SwimTopia. Our Gear Manager, Kim Isreal, will deliver them to you at practice. Caps are also available at Concessions at our home meets.
Please remember to pick up your T-shirts if you have not already, they are free with registration. Come to the table near the stairs to pick up your orders. Kim will be at both evening practices Monday and Tuesday and at the 7 a.m. practice with them.
Friday Night set-up: please stay on Friday night to help setup for Saturday’s meet.
Let me know if you have any questions about Saturday’s meet.
Go Torpedoes!
