Hello Torpedo Families, Next Saturday, we are swimming our Time Trials and
having our Surge for Success Swim-a-thon. Date: Saturday, June 6, 2026. Location: 5305
Piney Church Rd, Waldorf, MD 20602 Important Times: Arrival: 7:15 a.m. Warmups: 7:35 and 7:45 a.m. Meet Begins: 8:00 a.m. Concludes: 12:00 noon Team Communications/SwimTopia: If you have not already done so, please download the
SwimTopia app and create a login for your family. This will be our main
forum for team communications. Each week, you will be asked to do 3 things in
SwimTopia by noon Wednesday: 1.Indicate whether your swimmer(s) will be
participating in Saturday’s meet. 2.Indicate which job your family member(s) will fill
to run the meet. Coach Jo must seed each meet and submit her entries to
the Data Managers by Thursday evening, so she needs your participation
input by Wednesday noon. For regular season meets, the swimmer attendance
section will close on Wednesday at noon. Swimmers who are not signed up
by that time will not be able to participate in the following
Saturday’s meet. Swimmer Attendance: Here’s how you register your swimmer(s) to participate
in each meet in SwimTopia: 1.Sign in to SwimTopia. 2.Hover over the “Meets & Events” tab at the top,
in red. 3.Click “Sign-up Calendar.” 4.Click “Meet Entry” to the right of the meet (green
button). 5.Under your swimmer(s) name, click “Edit.” 6.Edit your swimmer’s status to “Attending” or “Not
Attending.” 7.Hit “Save.” Job Sign Up: Job sign up in SwimTopia works similarly to swimmer
attendance. From the Sign Up Calendar, which you navigated to above: 1.Click “Job Sign Up” to the right of the meet, the
other green button. 2.Under your adult’s name, click “Sign Up for Jobs.” 3.Tick the box next to the job you would like to fill. 4.Click “Save Assignments” (at the bottom in blue). Grandparents, aunts, uncles, big brothers or sisters,
or family friends are all welcome to fill meet jobs on your family’s
behalf. Feel free to sign yourself up in SwimTopia with the intention of
one of them filling the role. Urgent: Stroke and Turn
Officials Needed We urgently need Stroke & Turn Officials
this season. These are required positions, and we cannot run our swim
meets without them. Please consider completing the two online
training courses to become certified. If you are interested, please reply
to this email and we will provide you with the training information.
Know Before You Go: The St. Charles HS pool is our home pool. Upon arrival, have your swimmer check in with the
Coach to get their race assignments. Parent Volunteers: Check in with Janice Patterson,
your Meet Manager, about your meet job. Suits and Caps: Your swimmer(s) will need a team cap for Time
Trials on Saturday, and for all our future meets. These can be
ordered through our Online Store in SwimTopia. Latex caps (available now)
are $5. Silicone caps (expected before the first meet) are $10. Kim
Isreal, our Gear Manager, will get them to you before Time Trials or
will have them for you on Saturday morning. We will have some at Time
Trials for last-minute purchase, also. Please get your swimmer a competition suit. Parents
will obtain their swimmer’s suit individually. Indian Head Swim Team has
a team store on SwimOutlet.com (https://www.swimoutlet.com/collections/indianhead).
Our team colors are red, white and navy. Our coaches identified several
suits that fit the bill; they are shown in our team store. You may pick
one of those or get the navy, red and/or white suit of your choice. Thursday and Friday Night Business Meeting: Please attend our start-of-season business meeting on Thursday
and Friday at 6:30 pmat the St. Charles
pool. We urge every family to please send at least one adult
representative as we will impart crucial information about the season
then. You only need to attend one of the two scheduled meeting nights—please choose the date that works best for you. Friday Night Meet Set Up: Every Friday evening before a Saturday home meet, we
will ask families to help us set up the pool deck for the next day’s
meet. This will take place during 2nd evening practice.
We will ask the 1st evening practice parents to stay
after to help the 2ndpractice parents with set up, if
possible. Morning swim parents are welcome to come help with evening set
up if you can. We need everyone’s help after the meet to tear down and
put everything away. Surge for Success Swim-A-Thon: Reminder: You may continue collecting donations
through Tuesday, June 30,2026—a full three
weeks after Surge for Success takes place. Please note: In SwimTopia, there's no need to RSVP for
the Swim-A-Thon only RSVP for Time Trials. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me at
practice! Go Torpedoes! Janice Patterson IHST Meet Manager |
